System Modules & Roles

The EBS Pay platform is structured into three main modules — Customer App, Retailer App, and Admin Web App — each tailored to meet the needs of its specific user group while maintaining consistent functionality across wallet management, bill payment, and transaction monitoring.

1. Customer Module (Mobile App)

Provides customers with a convenient and secure digital wallet to perform everyday transactions such as airtime/data purchases, bill payments, and transfers.

Core Features:

  • Wallet Funding: Customers can fund their wallets using bank transfers, debit cards, or payment gateways. (No cashback earned on wallet funding.)

  • Airtime & Data Purchase: Seamless top-up across all major telcos with instant transaction confirmation.

  • Bill Payments: Pay for utilities like DSTV, electricity, and broadband subscriptions through integrated APIs with real-time validation.

  • Wallet-to-Bank Transfers: Withdraw funds from wallet to linked bank accounts (subject to a small commission charge).

  • Transaction History: Access a record of all completed and pending transactions for tracking and dispute resolution.

  • Profile Management: Update personal details.

  • Notifications: Receive real-time updates for transactions, balance changes, and promotions.

User Outcome: A seamless, mobile-first experience that enables customers to manage their digital payments in one place with transparency and speed.

2. Retailer Module (Mobile App)

Empowers retailers and agents to earn through vending, bill payments, and transfers — providing both convenience and income opportunities via cashback and commissions.

Core Features:

  • Wallet Funding & Management: Fund wallet via supported channels (bank transfer, card, or USSD).

  • Cashback & Commissions: Earn commissions on wallet funding, and airtime/data vending. Commissions are displayed in real time in the retailer’s wallet.

  • Airtime & Data Vending: Sell airtime and data bundles directly to customers.

  • Bill Payments: Vend and manage payments for DSTV, PHCN, broadband, and other supported services.

  • Transfers to Bank Accounts: Initiate wallet-to-bank transfers for customers.

  • Transaction Overview: Review all completed and pending transactions, including commission statements.

  • Performance Dashboard: Track total sales, earnings, and cash flow trends to improve business performance.

User Outcome: Retailers operate as micro-merchants, using EBS Pay to earn income while serving as digital payment intermediaries in their communities.

3. Admin Module (Web App)

Centralized platform for managing users, monitoring transactions, and reconciling financial operations across Customer and Retailer modules.

Core Features:

  • Manual Funding & Reconciliation: Admins can review wallet funding requests, approve or reject pending reconciliations, and correct discrepancies.

  • User Management: Manage Customers, Retailers, and Admin staff. Create, suspend, or modify accounts and assign role-based permissions.

  • Transaction Oversight: View, filter, and audit all transactions — including wallet funding, vending, transfers, and bill payments.

  • Compliance Tools: flag suspicious activities and manage user tiers based on compliance levels.

  • Audit Logging: Maintain detailed system and user activity logs for traceability and regulatory compliance.

  • Dashboard Analytics: Monitor KPIs such as transaction volume, revenue, and reconciliation status.

  • System Configuration: Manage payment integrations, and platform settings.

User Outcome: Admins maintain oversight of all activities, ensure financial and operational accuracy, and uphold compliance standards across the EBS Pay ecosystem.

4. Shared Components

Some features are shared across all user roles to ensure consistency and platform reliability:

  • Authentication & Authorization: Secure login with multi-factor authentication (MFA) and role-based access control.

  • Notifications & Alerts: Unified system for push notifications, email alerts, and in-app messages.

  • Reporting & Analytics: Exportable reports and visual summaries for transactions and performance metrics.

  • Security Framework: Includes data encryption, fraud detection triggers, and audit logging.
